Random thing

We had such a fun trip! Here are a few pics of it. Isaac said all he wanted for Christmas was a gingerbread man so that was the first thing he got. I think he forgot all about that as the day wore on! We got lots of snow as you can see from Doug's picture. We finally got to see the big wagon again! That was so fun. Steven and Heidi look pretty cute. They were crocheting together. We had such a good time with Mom and Dad. That one is taken behind their house. And last but not least, the new member of the family! (Does that make about 24 vehicles that dad owns?!?!) Anyway, it doesn't look bad. He has had fun playing with it. Happy new year all!

This is what happens when

three grown men "watch" one 10 month old boy! Poor little guy! He wasn't discovered for at least half an hour. Way to go guys!

In honor...

Here is the watch and the plaque that Reed got for his retirment. He either has to gain 40 pounds or take out 4 links on the watch so that it will fit. Small price to pay!

And a good time was had by all...

Reed got a silver watch for his retirement! The best part of the weekend was being with the kids and grandkids tho.

Sad and Glad

Today I had both a sad and a glad experience. I was driving to Totem and I saw a man carrying two bags of groceries crossing the service road. Suddenly he just collapsed! Sadly, one car just drove around him. Then 3 of us got out of our cars to see how he was. One was a delivery truck driver, one was me and one was Drew Kanyo. Anyway, he was having seizures there on the pavement. We didn't really know what to do. Drew called an ambulance and then a paramedic came out of nowhere and she took over. I left because I was blocking traffic and there were cars stacked up behind me. When I came out of Totem, there was no trace of what happened. I hope he is ok.

In glad news, I went to a grocery store and there was a mentally handicapped young man bagging my groceries. Someone had bought a donut and one of the clerks said to the young man, "Hey, when are you going to buy that donut you owe me?" He laughed and said he didn't have any money. He took my groceries to my car and as he was loading them in, I got in my purse and gave him 55 cents. I told him now he could buy his friend the donut. He got a big grin on his face. As I was getting in my car, I could hear him yelling, "I got a tip! I got a tip!" He was so excited! All the people coming out of the store where grinning from ear to ear because the young man was so happy. It made my day.

Now, one more sad thing. How come no one ever comments any more? Maybe no one is looking. Sadness.

So here is the dress that I had to buy because my clothes were all wet. It's not tooooo bad is it? Notice the lovely hair. That's what it looks like when all you have is a comb and no dryer or curler! The little alien in the window is because we stopped in Vulcan on the way home from Calgary. They have a visitors center that is a replica of the "Space ship Enterprise". They are really in to Star Trek there! The other picture is of the 3" hole that something ate in the bottom of my carry on bag! Yuck. I hope he didn't come home with me!

Beauty...

We have been having so much fun with Eliza (and Kristi of course!) They have been here for a week. It sure has gone fast!

and the Beast!

This crazed man is on the loose! If you see him, do not approach him. He is in severe withdrawal from human contact. He talks to trees, bulldozers, and small rodents. If you see him, slowly back away and call G-ETA-SHAVE immediately!

A Tribute to the most wonderful man!

Lately I have been thinking about the wonderful man I married. The past 3 weeks have been a little un-nerving and stressful, yet this good man just carries on. Sometimes I know his mind is far away...so much to think about and decide in the next few months! Yet, he just carries on. One foot in front of the other, and only little panic attacks now and then! I marvel at his ability to think things through. I know we will be fine. I have every confidence in him.

A few weeks ago I had to prepare a talk and I ran across a talk I gave a couple of years ago about fathers. Let me quote from it, "I asked my oldest son if he could tell me something that he had learned from his father. Something his dad taught him that Reed probably didn't think he was teaching him. Doug said that his dad taught him how to suck a Rolo so that it would last longer. I found that interesting. Why would he remember that?! The more I thought about it, the more I realize that it wasn't the eating of the candy that was taught. It is just in Reed's nature to make things last as long as possible. That is the message he gave out. As a result of time spent with their dad, my boys prefer to lay on the floor to watch TV. My Daughter reads voraciously, and they all follow his example of faithful church attendance, pay their tithing and enjoy going to the temple." I am so grateful for the good example Reed is to me and our children. Thank you, hon. I love you very much. Happy Father's Day!

Small Drama

So I get in my car to go to work on Tuesday morning and I notice the smell of stale cigarette. That's odd, I thought. Then I noticed the book that we keep track of mileage in on the driver's seat. I don't remember leaving that there, I thought. Then I noticed the storage compartment in the arm rest between the front seats was open, and the ash tray was open. Hmmmm... I think someone ransacked my car! I didn't think anything missing until I went to the gas station today. Then I couldnl't find the litre log! For those of you who lack Canuck knowledge, a liter log gives you 2 cents per liter back when you have the card filled up. Well, mine was almost filled up, maybe worth about $20 and it was gone! When I told the guy at the gas station what had happened he said it happens all the time. Go figure. I guess whoever did this hit a few cars that night. I am glad we have nothing else to steal! Last night we put the car in the garage. With the car doors locked... but the windows were rolled down so that the smell would air out...and the garage door was unlocked! I guess we are too used to living in a small town.
